Youths disrupts election in Benue, burn election materials

Youths in the early hours of Saturday overpowered security personnel and disrupted the supplementary election in Chito the headquarters Azendeshi council ward, in Ukum local government area of Benue state.

The rampaging youths were alleged to have attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, officials, PDP agents and observers after which they snatched all the electoral materials meant for election, burnt them thereby disrupting the entire process in the area.

Member representing Ukum state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Paul Biam alongside, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Kachina Merga, Adviser to the State Governor on Revenue and Taxation, Mr Jerome Zaye who were agents of the PDP in the area were all attacked by the irate alleged APC youths.

When contacted, the INEC Public Relations Officer, PRO, for Benue state, Mr. Andyer Terkaa confirmed the development.
