A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abigborodo, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Timi Dajagbasan stated, yesterday, that the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Delta South, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, gave President Muhammadu Buhari highest number of votes in his district.
Dajagbasan, who made this known in a statement, said Delta State had been a very tough glacier for any opposition party to cut.
He said, “In 2015, the opposition APC in the state polled a total of 48,858 votes for President Muhammadu Buhari as against the ruling PDP’s 1,285,343 votes for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan under Uduaghan.
“But the outcome of the February 23, 2019 presidential/National Assembly elections is causing panic in PDP camp. The opposition APC, bolstered by the defection of Uduaghan, turned in the second highest votes for President Buhari in the whole of the South-South and South-East, more than the required 25% of votes to win the presidential election”.
According to him, the Delta APC polled a total of 221,282 votes as against the PDP’s 595,068 votes for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He assured supporters of Uduaghan that the mandate of the former governor will be reclaimed.
