The Institute of Directors (IOD) has admitted Globacom’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mrs Bella Disu, and 65 other Directors into its fold.

The institute’s induction ceremony for 2019 was held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos on Thursday.
Mrs Disu was certified as a full member of IOD along with some other directors, while some others got associate membership. Three Directors were also given life membership of the institute.
Mrs Disu who joined Globacom in 2004 is also a Director of Julius Berger Plc, the biggest construction company in Nigeria.
The Institute of Directors was established 35 years ago to develop Directors by inculcating leadership skills in them to enable them to lead their organisations well and develop the country.

President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the IOD, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai Mohamed, called on the new members to adhere to the codes of good corporate governance and to strive to continue to learn always for improved efficiency.
As part of the ceremony, a lecture was delivered on the theme, “Eight Technologies every Director needs to be aware of”, by the Chief Economist for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dr. Andrew Nevin. He emphasised the need for an increase in the number of private sector companies in the country which he said would drastically reduce poverty.
Dr. Nevin urged the inductees to acquaint themselves with new technologies including Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing, Drones, Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Robotics and Block chain as they would increase their capacity and competence to deliver on their jobs.
Mr. Akin Fanimokun, a director with First Bank, responded on behalf of the new members, and pledged that they would uphold the ethics of the profession at all times by being good ambassadors of the Institute.
