The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) says the father of Chief Gani Adams, the late Pa Lamidi Adams, was a blessing to the Yoruba people and Nigeria in general.

In a tribute by Comrade Joseph Evah, on behalf of the Ijaw group, they stated that Aare Onakakanfo was a special gift to Nigeria at the right time in the country’s history, adding that Pa Lamidi Adams became a source through which God blessed Yorubaland and Nigeria.

“The people of Niger Delta are proud of the father of the great Aare Onkanfo, a man who gave life to a son that did not lose sight of his proud Yoruba heritage and has become a global brand, promoting Yoruba culture.

“The people of Niger Delta”, he continued, “benefited from Pa Lamidi Adams’ son, who stood by our own son, former President Goodluck Jonathan, during the turbulent period of his government, when the first elected President of Nigeria from the South-South was facing a gang-up from various cabals.

“The people therefore pray God to give the great Pa Lamidi Adams eternal rest, while urging the governments of the South-West to immortalise him by giving a befitting burial to the departed elder whose guidance to his son, Chief Gani Aams, contributed greatly to the Yoruba nation especially during the period of June 12, 1993 struggle and beyond”.
