Warri Rotary trains security personnel on human rights

WARRI—ROTARY  Club of Warri Rotary District 9141 in collaboration with a leading non-governmental organisation, Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment, LITE-Africa, have trained 46 officers and men of Nigeria Police, Navy, Air Force as well as Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC on Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, VPSHR.

During the two days training which held in Warri, Delta State,  participants underwent inintensive interactive sessions on the impacts and implication of globalisation on the populace, growing international interest in relationship between business and human rights as well as the need for the security personnel to become disciples in propagating and protecting human rights in the course of their duty.

The Governor, District 9141, Rotary International, Mr. Adeyemi Oladokun, told participants, Rotarians were optimistic that peace is achievable  without the security agencies, there will be no peace.
