DELTA SOUTH: Socio-political groups root support for senatorial candidate

BOMADI – Socio-political groups in riverine communities in Delta South Senatorial District have rallied support for the senatorial candidate of United People’s Congress, UPC, Dr Akinremi Oritseweyimi Nanna in Saturday’s general elections in the country.

The groups made their decision public in a joint rally on Tuesday at Oboro community in Burutu council area of Delta state, with demonstrations and dancing along the community waterfront.

The groups include Ariye Democrats, Pretty Ladies Union of Oboro community, Alu Political Orientation Group and Ijaw National Congress (INC) Zadobiri Clan.

Speaking at the rally, chairman Social Democratic Party (SDP) Seimbiri Ward 4, Chief Simeon Loku JP, who received the various groups for the rally, said that the groups took the decision upon lifting the ban on political campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He said the various groups had indicated interest in the candidacy of Dr Nanna, who is a medical doctor, by his virtues of being honest and kind, as well as his blueprint of influencing development to rural communities.

“The purpose of our rally today is to call on the people of Burutu council area to deliver Dr Nanna to the Senate with their PVCs come Saturday.

“You can see everybody displaying their PVCs in the rally. We are saying that Dr Nanna has all it takes to deliver the dividends of democracy to rural communities in the senatorial district”, he said.
