Gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen have invaded Maro village in Kajuru Local Government of Kaduna, razing many houses and attacking many.


Maro was one of the villages that came under attack two weeks ago.

The Kaduna state government in a swift reaction condemned the renewed attack and called for calm.

In a statement issued by the spokesman to the governor, Samuel Aruwan, the governor said it was saddened by the “news of renewed attacks in Kajuru and Kachia local government areas.

“Today, the Kaduna State Government was briefed by security agencies of renewed attacks in Kajuru local government area, and in parts of neighboring Kachia LGA.

“The Kaduna State Government has been assured that the security agencies are working assiduously to contain the situation.

“The Government is saddened by these attacks, condemns the perpetrators and urges all residents of the area to support the security agencies in their efforts to protect communities” the source said.

But a source in the village said the armed men numbered more than 400 and attacked the village very early with different weapons.

There was no independent confirmation of the number of attackers involved.

The Police is yet to speak on the matter as at the time of filing this report.
