Awka- SENATOR Victor Umeh representing Anambra Central in the senate, said Wednesday that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, were merely playing politics with the highly publicized restructuring of Nigeria, arguing that both parties had not shown any commitment towards making the exercise a reality.

Addressing reporters at Aguluzigbo in Anaocha local government of Anambra State, Umeh alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidates of APC and PDP respectively for the 2019 presidential election, were only using restructuring to get the support of the people, adding that there was nothing to show that their political parties want to accede to the people’s yearnings concerning restructuring Nigeria.

According to him, the national conference of 2014 brought together 492 best brains in the country from all walks of life and from all ethnic nationalities, which is bigger than the size of the country’s national parliament and wondered why the a decisive action on its implementation should not be taken.

He said: “Any political party that does not commit to restructuring in specific terms does not wish the country well. That national conference had far reaching decisions that can help this country. It was also the beat brains in the country from all walks of life that drafted it.

“Restructuring Nigeria will make the economy of the states to rebound because people will return to their original source of wealth as the zones will become competitive, and discourage the monthly rush to Abuja for allocation.

“Both APC and PDP have not made firm commitment to restructuring Nigeria, and any party that does not see restructuring as the cynosure of all eyes does not wish Nigeria well.”

He said that while APC had made what he described as epileptic promise by selecting parts of the restructuring document favourable to it, the PDP presidential candidate merely mouthed it, but has not stated in specific terms how he hopes to do it, and which part of the document he hopes to put to work if elected president of Nigeria.

“For now, only the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate, Gen John Gbor (rtd) has truly committed to restructuring Nigeria. Nigerians should not be fooled, they should ask questions because only restructuring can truly bring peace and put away hate, mutual suspicion and other vices in Nigeria,” the Senator added
