Assistant coach of the national Women’s U-20 football team, the Falconets, Mansur Abdullahi has declared that the team cannot afford to lose their final group match against China.
The match against China comes up Monday at 3.30 pm Nigerian time. After their 1-0 victory over Haiti on Thursday, a win for the Nigerian representatives against China would guarantee them a second round ticket.
Speaking from France, Abdullahi said, “we just have to put the best of ability and know that we don’t have to draw or lose the game against China because we believe we can go all the way, even past the group stage.”
He continued, “we believe in our abilities and strength as a team to do well. The girls know the importance of the World Cup so they cannot afford to lose the next match.”
The former Warri Wolves Coach thanked the Nigeria Football Federation for their support at the ongoing World Youth Championship, saying, “the only way to reciprocate the tax payers money is by churning out good performance at the mundial. We are focused as a team and hopeful that we will qualify from the group.”
