GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi State has dismissed all those in rival political parties contending for the governorship in 2019 as noisemakers, masquerades and lilliputians noting that they had nothing to offer to the people.

The contenders from the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state have, however, rebuffed him insisting that they are indeed serious in their effort to rule the state and that they are indeed not noisemakers.

Speaking when he addressed stakeholders and health workers during the hand-over of tricycle ambulances to the 171 wards of the state, he expressed confidence that his administration will have an easy ride into his second term. He, nevertheless, called on the stakeholders to keep praying for the state. Noting that the rivals are angry with the level of development in the state, Governor Umahi said: “We are not yet satisfied, and we want Ebonyians to know that the measures we are taking on the road, we will also give more attention to health, education, water in 2019.

“Forget about noisemakers and masquerades (opposition). We are on course, and our journey is for eight years. When you see a specific noise being made, it is not ordinary. But all these lilliputians who say that they are contesting for the governorship, what do they think they can offer? They have nothing to offer the people of the state, forget about them. The devil is angry with the way we are developing the state, and he is using his agents (opponents) to make noise, but our hands and minds are unto the Lord. And we shall deliver. I want to ask you to put the state in prayers. The Lord who started it will accomplish it. And no power can stop it. “Some other states have election fever, but we are comfortable in Ebonyi. We are not into the election but we are into work, we are working.

In our second tenure, we are going to have a functional teaching hospital.”

Reacting, a House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the APC, Mr. Jude Chike Dibia, said: “It is a wrong word coming out from him. The wall of Jericho was brought down by sounds; imagine the kind of sounds that will come out from the opposition in next year’s election. Opponents are not noisemakers, we are positioned to take over power come 2019″.
