…says lawmakers on vigil ‘re defenders of democracy

ABUJA-The National Assembly leadership meeting summoned to the discuss the request of the presidency to reconvene has been cancelled.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Lasun told Journalists that with the tensed atmosphere, the meeting cannot hold again.
Lasun who had arrived for the meeting expressed surprised that the assembly complex was on lock down with the heavy presence of operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.
He said he had communicated with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House on why it was necessary to put of the meeting.
Asked about the impeachment speculation against Saraki, Lasun said that impeachment was not an easy task to achieve in a hurry.
He applauded some lawmakers who had been standing inside the assembly, saying they were defenders of democracy.
“That’s how they feel they can defend democracy. This is our normal recess. With the situation on the ground, this meeting cannot hold.
I am not aware of any impeachment and impeachment is not an easy thing. You need two third”, he said.
