ABUJA—GOVERNOR Umar Ganduje of Kano State has told security operatives in the country to allow the legislature to function and not ridicule the country before the comity of nations.
He also commended Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for the bold step in sacking Director-General of Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura.
Speaking to State House correspondents after meeting behind closed-doors with Osinbajo, Governor Ganduje, condemned Tuesday’s invasion of the National Assembly by security agents, saying the legislature must be allowed to operate according to law.
He said: “To use security agencies to try to prevent lawmakers from doing their normal legislative functions is wrong. But I have to salute the acting President for taking immediate action to save the situation. The National Assembly is a very important institution and we must not embarrass ourselves and allow foreigners to view us as undemocratic.”
