The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Calvary Parish, Province 27, Lagos, has offered free healthcare services and donated relief materials to residents of Mafoluku, Oshodi, and its environs.
The free health services, which included eye checks, heart screening, blood sugar, malaria, body mass Index mass, BMI, tests among others was part of the activities to mark the 21st anniversary of the parish.
Speaking at the event, Pesiding Pastor of the parish, Pastor Jeffery Agambi, said the programme was inspired by Jesus Christ who mandated the Church to help the needy.
His words: “The programme is another way to reach out to our immediate community and help provide solutions to their health challenges through the help of our nurses and doctors without any charges for tests conducted or medicine given.
“We feed people, give gifts to the aged and widows as well as the young, as we are aware that our health system is challenged.
“For instance, a church member gave birth and the baby was premature; we had to ‘travel’ all the way to Festac to get an incubator for the child.
“These things are done without the hassle of going to the hospital, waiting to see doctors, paying money to get card and other charges. It is like a gap in meeting the needs in the society and environment.”
Also speaking, the Outreach Coordinator, Mr. Joel Nwokeoma, said the essence of the medical outreach was to impact and provide medical services to members of the community, where the church is located.
