Pro-Biafra groups back voters’ registration

By Anayo Okoli

UMUAHIA—A coalition of pro-Biafra groups, Biafra Restoration Citizens, has called on all pro-Biafra groups to be involved in the on-going voters’ registration exercise, saying it would play a major role in the event of a referendum for the emergence of Biafra.

The group also urged all the pro-Biafra groups to embark on intensive grassroots mobilization to support and realize this.

Rising from a retreat held last weekend in Aba, the coalition also resolved to support all Igbo political office holders working for the development of Igboland.

The retreat, according to a communiqué issued by the coalition, was attended by Biafra Independence Organization, Igbo Revolutionary Movement, Eastern Peoples Renewal, Biafra Clergy Network, Biafra Security Network.

According to the communique issued by the coalition, “we advise and remind the people of Biafra of the special importance and urgent need in registering and securing voters’ cards.

“The voters’ card is more important for Biafra referendum than Nigeria elections. Any pro Biafra group or leadership that opposes registration of PVC’s in Biafra land is indirectly supporting Nigeria’s elongation and political domination of Biafra land.”
