JALINGO – Nine corps members have drowned in a river at Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba state.

It was learnt the deceased perished while on a picnic at the riverside, with four bodies recovered.

Confirming the incident, the state coordinator of NYSC, Florence Yaakugh said the remaining five bodies were yet to be recovered at press time.

Vanguard gathered the recovered bodies comprising of two male and female were identified as corps members posted to Taraba state from Enugu, Imo, Delta and Edo state.

Contacted, spokesperson of Taraba state police command, ASP David Misal told our correspondent the command was aware of the incident.
