The Managing  Director,Toyota Nigeria Limited, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo has described the all new Toyota Camry launched in  Nigeria  recently as another masterpiece from  Toyota Motor Corporation stable.The 8th generation Toyota Camry was presented to  Nigerian Motoring Press and  dealers at  Toyota Nigeria Corporate headquarters in Lekki, Lagos lately.

Ade-ojo who was represented by the company’s General Manager, Corporate  Services, Mr. Bunmi Onafowokan said  the new Camry has been upgraded with an array of features including trendier exterior  and spacious interior which  make driving it a pleasure.“Indeed, it’s a remarkable embodiment of safety, comfort and performance in equal proportions,”he said.

According to him, the all new Camry has undergone a total transformation  from a proven sedan to one that pushes the boundaries of technology. Inevitably, it  has enjoyed a high level of goodwill and acceptance not only because of the superior  engineering behind it but also its stunning beauty.Ade-Ojo explained that the Camry was first introduced in 1982 and has evolved through generations to the current masterpiece. As one of the best selling Toyota models, the Camry from 1982 to 2015 has sold over 18 million units, a record that’s yet to be surpassed in the mid-size auto segment.

Promising to stay committed to  customers,  Ade-Ojo said, “the economic landscape of our dear nation, Nigeria, has not been exactly clement, but that has not deterred us. In fact, it has positively motivated  our creativity in responding to demands of our dear customers all over Nigeria and we will continue to explore ways of keeping them satisfied and  sustain our culture of excellence.” Revealing features of the new Camry, TNL’s Brand Manager, Mr Bayo Olawoyin, explained that the vehicle was specially built to  improve ride control  with an “interior that projects an immediate feeling of excellence and  driving experience that everyone appreciates”.

He  said models being introduced to the Nigerian market are the powerful 2.5 litre and 3.5 litre petrol engines with 8-speed automatic transmission among other unique features to offer owners real value for money.These include  back monitor with pedestrian detector, intelligent clearance sonar rear, cross traffic auto brakes, adaptive front lighting system, rear electronic sunshade, rear electronic reclining seats and  electronic parking brakes. Other  unique selling points according to the Brand Manager are  fuel economy ; high quality ride; top-class safety performance and  advanced human-machine interface.The interior is  roomier especially for the rear passengers  and with redesigned seats.

“Camry’s newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission improves acceleration effortlessly and provides a smooth ride even at high speeds and  enhances fuel efficiency.The three distinct  drive modes give you even more control. The sport mode indulges your spirit with  sharper acceleration while the  Eco mode adjusts throttle input to maximise  efficiency. Normal mode blends fuel economy with performance. Its rear seat  reclines at the touch of a button and proximity  between windshield and roof  reduces wind noise. The  hood silencer  keeps engine noise out of the cabin while the  rear control panel features power seat and  power sun shade with  AC adjustment from the rear cabin of the vehicle.The all-new Camry is fitted with six speakers and an   8-inch Multi-media touch screen , 800-Watt Entune 3.0 Premium  audio system that make people feel more at home.Olawoyin added that  the new Camry  comes with an Advanced Airbag System  featuring  dual-stage SRS driver and front passenger airbags as well as  front and rear side curtain airbags. There are nine airbags in all for  your safety.When the brake-hold switch is on and the transmission is engaged other than park or reverse, the brake is automatically applied. In fact, the electronic parking brake will automatically engage after three minutes if the car does  not move.
