Okagbare
Africa’s 200 metres record-holder Blessing Okagbare says her career is not built on fans’ expectations, adding that she is not bothered by criticism.
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games bronze medallist has been under attack from some Nigerian fans over her poor form since the beginning of the season.
But the talented athlete says she is bothered about such criticism but instead focussed on the CAA Senior Athletics Championships, which begin in Asaba on Wednesday.
Asked about her expectations at the competition, the athlete told NAN that she would not be talking about her expectations. She said;
“I don’t answer questions about expectations. I have expectations but people have expectations of me, but I am sorry I am not running for anyone.
“This is my career and I come first, regardless of what anybody thinks. No one knows how you train, yet they want you to fulfill their own expectations of you.
