Exports of Nigerian products and services may receive a boost following the successful accreditation of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA’s Nigerian Global Certification Limited, NGCL.

Announcing the development at a briefing in Lagos yesterday, NECA Director-General designate, Mr. Timothy Olawale, said NGCL had been internationally accredited as the first indigenous certification body in Nigeria to provide certification and training services for companies locally and internationally.

He said, “The establishment of NGCL and its accreditation as a certification body by the Egyptian Accreditation Control, EGAC, assures us of better access to certification of management system, standardization, enhanced business competitiveness and removal of technical barriers to global trade. The accreditation of NGCL has come at a time when the focus of the government is on diversification from oil sector and the promotion of exports from other sectors. This major milestone will enhance business competitiveness, impact the quality infrastructure landscape in Nigeria and break barriers to global trade.”

Olawale who gave insight into the process leading to its accreditation, said the journey started after the European Union, EU, identified the gap hindering Nigerian businesses global competitiveness, and working with Federal Government, approved the National Quality Infrastructure Project, NQIP, for Nigeria in 2014.
