BENIN— A dismissed police corporal identified as Michael Eriarebhe and other suspects were, yesterday, in Benin paraded by the Police for various crimes.

Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, said Eriarebhe was earlier dismissed by the force for offences bordering on discipline and was on bail from the court when he was again arrested for involvement in criminal activities.

Also, Kokumo drew the attention of the public to “the unwholesome activities of an orphanage located along Siluko Road, owned by one Blessing. It has to be noted that a four-year-old girl was stolen in Lagos and later found at the orphanage under questionable circumstances.”

However, Blessing claimed that she was not aware that the girl was stolen and that the man that brought her claimed he is her father. She said she accepted the child because the child looked sickly.

The mother of two children said she started operating the orphanage four years ago with 15 children.

Meanwhile, Kokumo said one Sunday Onoja, 23, was also arrested for killing one Moses Ikiri, 27, who was lured to use his motorcycle to inspect his farm in Okada town.

The Police boss said: “The suspect used a hard object to hit the victim on the head and buried the corpse in a shallow grave inside a cocoa farm close to the forest and ran away with the victim’s motorcycle.”

Commenting on the kidnappers, Kokumo said few days ago, the anti-kidnapping unit of the command apprehended three suspected kidnappers namely Aminu, 23; Samuel, 19, and Raymond, 21, for allegedly threatening to kidnap and kill Emeritus Professor Joshua Aiseku from Sabongida-Ora in the state.

He said they threatened to kidnap their victim unless he deposited N7,500,000 into a Turkish bank account, with account name Akunday Aorah, and that one phone was recovered from the suspects.

Kokumo said the Police also apprehended one Ehiosun, 21, and Efosa who is currently on admission at the Police hospital for injuries sustained while trying to escape during an attempt to rob one Oloruntoba Adeko of his Audi saloon car with number plates Benin AFZ-647-XA and other valuables.
