CALABAR – POLITICAL office holders who are from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State have been directed to report at Obudu to get to the field and canvass for votes for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate.
The bye-election scheduled for Saturday, 11th of August is to replace Mr Stephen Ukpikpen who represented Obudu State constituency but died in May while on early morning jogging.
The Governor according to a source ordered the political office holders beginning from commissioners down to personal assistants to report at their polling units to canvass for votes to ensure a landslide victory for the PDP.
The race is between Ngozi Ukpikpen, wife of late assembly member, who is the PDP flag bearer and Adah Ishamali of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr Chris Ita, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor said there is nothing unusual for the governor to ask his aides to spend two weeks in the field canvassing support for the PDP candidate because he wants victory for his party.
“He only asked political office holders from Obudu to report to the field and not all political office holders from across the state and there is nothing unusual about that because he wants victory for his party”.
