Mrs Bolanle Ambode, wife of Lagos State governor Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has called undergraduates to shun acts of indiscretion in order to lead a meaning life.

She said this during her keynote address at the 2nd distinguished lecture organised by Lagos State University, LASU that had Thespian actress, Mrs Joke Silver, Segun Arinze and Mrs Dan-Faparusi Ogugua.

Meanwhile, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, LASU Vice Chancellor in his welcome address, said the institution was poised to developing students with potentials to succeed in life. “ In line with our mission statement, LASU has established the Career Development Centre to grow the seed of potentials in our students as well as to give them a platinum lead early in their career development from enrollment to graduation and beyond, thereby equipping them for a life time career success” Prof. Fagbohun said.

Ambode, an alumna of LASU, told the students that it was imperative they focused on their duties. “ I am proud to be an alumna of this institution. However, my advice to you students is that one moment of indiscretion is enough to ruin a life. I pray your lives will not be ruined. While I commend the University for the ingenuous programmes put in place for you, please ensure to listen and be fully involved in your lectures. “advised Lagos state first lady.

Mrs Joke Silva who spoke on the need for youths to acquire useful skills rather than being focused more on getting certification said “ I started work in 1989 and have worked across many organizations. But interestingly, no one has ever asked for my certification. That would be because I always had something to offer so much that people just believed me.

“ So, no matter what it takes that you have to do, it is not that certificate alone that determines who you are. There is more and what are important are the skills that you have acquired in getting the certificates. “explained the actress.

Giving tips for success, Mrs Ogugua , also an alumna, LASU who studied Law but ended up being a United State of America, USA certified Pilot urged the students on the need to live right in order to give back to the society.

“To succeed you must have the five Ds. You must a desire, be determined, diligent, dedicated and disciplined. As you cannot be an entrepreneur without giving back and that is why I am here to give back” Ogugua said.

On his part, Segun Arinze advised the students to remain focus and strive for improvement. “You must continue to work so hard daily. As an actor, you are as good as your last movie. So, getting to the top of the ladder is difficult but staying is much more difficult. People would always want to pull you down. All you need is to stay in your lane, whatever you are good at, pursue it. Don’t join the crowd.

“To be successful and independent, you must have several sources of income. However you must be a specialist in one.” Said Arinze.
