Rapper and Singer, Iceberg Slim is one of Nigeria’s most controversial rappers in recent times.
The new yorker, whose name is Olusegun Olowokere, comes from a place; where he was surrounded by musical elements, just like most artists, experience theirs in the church, so did he.
The ‘Too Much Money’ artist, relocated from America, to launch his music career in Nigeria. He started out with G-Worldwide, where he marketed and distributed his records; before signing with 323 Entertainment.
The rapper broke the internet during the early peak of his career, while involved in a quarrel with M.I and went viral numerously, during the end of his relationship with Juliet Ibrahim, a Ghanaian actress, and African favorite. Below are 5 things you need to know about Olusegun “Iceberg Slim” Olowokere.
1. As the youngest born of four kids, Iceberg’s music journey began in the church choir at the age of 12.
2. He is a member of Christ Apostolic Church, where he became a chorister, a drummer, and later became a keyboardist.
3. Iceberg Slim had always wanted to be an FBI Agent. After 2 years completed at ‘John Jay College of Criminal Justice’, he drops out to follow his passion for music. He Graduated from the Institute of Audio Research, with a certification in Audio Engineering and Production.
4. He began recording songs with his cousin, a Grammy Award Winning Engineer/Producer, Milwaukee Buck aka. Buck 3000, who served as one of the record engineers on Ashanti, self-titled debut studio album, which is the first studio album to win Best Contemporary R&B Album at the Grammys and earned Buck; a special recognition from The Recording Academy in 2003.
5. He released his first mixtape album titled ‘Soul Food’ in 2008. In 2009, he released ‘The Fix’, his second mixtape album which features Sauce Kid, Ja Rule, Banky W., eLDee, and Rico White.
