The Omadino Community Council of Elders, Omadino, in Warri South local government area of Delta State has said that it suspendied two of its members indefinitely over alleged activities that put the area into disrepute and threatens the peace of the people of the oil rich community.
The community said this in a letter to His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, Olu of Warri, dated June 24 and signed by its Chairman, Elder Omasan Edukugho and Secretary, Elder Buge Edukugho.
Omadino Council of Elders said the decision to suspend the two elders was reached at an extra ordinary meeting of the council held on June 22, 2018.
They said the decision to suspend one of the elders was, amongst others, over his alleged failed attempt to secede Omadino community from Warri Kingdom in a sponsored rebellious publication of April 6, 2016 without the consent and approval of the Council of Elders that brought “great embarrassment, not only to the community but also to the Itsekiri nation in general”.
They also alleged that the elder, against the directive of the council, blantantly refused to play his traditional ceremonial role of welcoming the Olu of Warri during his visit to the community on September 25, 2016.
The Council of Elders therefore urged His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri to intervene and save the situation in the community.
