Ayodele Fayose, Former Governor of Ekiti State.
By Henry Umoru
ABUJA— GOVERNOR Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, yesterday, condemned the siege to the residences of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu by the men of the Police Force, Department of State Services, DSS, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Fayose took a swipe at the Police and the EFCC for inviting and writing the Senate President and his deputy respectively, faulted the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying it will stop at nothing to remain in power.
The governor also lamented that 13 days after the conduct of the Ekiti State governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, his government was yet to receive documents relating to the election from the electoral umpire.
He said this when he paid a visit to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki at the National Assembly.
His words: “I’m here to see the Senate President; I’ve been to the Deputy Senate President’s house. We have only one country and we are abreast of what is happening. We are not unaware, we knew what was coming. There will be natural responses and the shenanigans in Ekiti were to prevent these people from taking this part of honour.
“I want the Senators, whom God has given this position, the House of Representatives, the leadership of this country in various capacities not to be intimidated, they should continue to struggle to make sure that this country is free from the shackles of these taskmasters.”
Speaking on the aftermath of the Ekiti elections, he said: “In Ekiti, we have not been able to get any document out of INEC for our election. These are supposed to be public documents. If you have the capacity to release the result on the Election Day, you should have the capacity to produce the document. We have written, this is the 10th or 11th day after the election they have not given us the document; they are busy manipulating the document.
“I want Nigerians to stand up to these people, they should not be afraid. They said Fayose will run after the elections, I’m a leader in this country, I am not afraid of death or incarceration, I am 58 years old. The abundance of a man does not consist of the things he possesses, life is for the coming generation to live, we must pay the dues now. I am somebody Nigerians will find a leader in.
“Ekiti election was a coup d’etat. We faced the security agents and INEC, it was calculated from day one.”
