David Umahi

The National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang Chinedu Obigwe, Thursday advised the Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi to concentrate in his administration and fulfill all his campaign promises, rather channeling his resources in treating insignificant issues.
Recall that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state had changed the popular ‘Abakiliki Street’ in Anambra state to ‘The Club Street’, because of prostitution, clubbing and other social vices going on in the Street.
A decision that was condemned by Dave Umahi and the Ebonyi State House of Assembly members who gave 7 days ultimatum to Anambra government to revert the change or they will retaliate.
In his reaction, Obigwe said that the Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi, does not have the constitutional right to dictate what a governor should do in his state.
Citing Obiano according to Obigwe, “I did not change the name of the Street to hurt my brothers and sisters in Ebonyi. I did it because I respect them. I gave the Street a name that befits it ‘The Club Street”, Gov Obiano had said.
Obigwe therefore, advised Gov Umahi to channel his strength in the development of his state and forget anything that would bring misunderstanding between the two states.
He equally faulted the Ebonyi State House of Assembly members for giving Anambra State government 7 days ultimatum to revert its decision.
In his words, “They don’t have the right to issue a 7 days ultimatum, because Obiano has a right to do what he thought wise for his state.
“But I think they are doing this because they want to score cheap political point against APGA ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general election.
“Sincerely speaking, it will surprise them that Igbo will vote overwhelmingly for APGA candidates in Southeast, especially in Ebonyi and Imo States
“No amount of politically motivated smear campaign against Obiano and APGA by anybody will stop the manifestation of APGA victory in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
“This is an irrelevant issue that shouldn’t have escalated like this. See, Obiano is too busy with better governance issues, than this change of name”, he finally said.
