By Rotimi Ojomoyela
Ado-Ekiti- The Director General of the Kayode Fayemi campaign council, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele , has urged the public to discountenance the rumour milling rounds that he had died in the London Hospital where he has been receiving medical are for the past six weeks.

Rep. Opeyemi Bamidele

Bamidele said the rumour was targeted at botching the ecstasy of victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in the Saturday’s election, Dr Kayode Fayemi and turned Ekiti into a battle ground.

Bamidele was on June 1, 2018 sustained gunshot wounds caused by mishandling of firearm by a policeman during a rally organized for Dr. Fayemi.

A statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, branded the rumour as an evil intention of the wicked, saying he is not only hale and hearty, but had substantially recuperated due to intensive medical treatments he had received buoyed by fervent prayers of Ekiti citizens.

The Fayemi’s campaign boss said the death rumour became worrisome owing to his concerns about the already mounting tension in the state, which he believed such misinformation could aggravate.

Bamidele said he was not really taken aback by this information taking cognizance of the lugubrious pictures of his health status some mischievous individuals had painted, which was far from the truth before leaving the shores of the country to London.

“I spoke as a DG of the victorious campaign outfit for over 10 minutes in an audio clip I sent during the mega rally attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Com Adams Oshiomhole, governors and other party leaders in Ado Ekiti.

“I believe these evidence were suffice to convince anybody that I am still alive. Could it mean that these mischief makers thought such audio address was fabricated?

“I expect every Ekiti man to pray for my survival rather than wishing me dead. In what way would they profit from my demise? Were they doing it for politics or to amass public sympathy?”, he queried.

Bamidele added : “Let me say in clear and unequivocal terms that I am convalescing fast and with the prayers of all Nigerians, I shall be discharged soon to reunite my political family and admirers in Ekiti to prepare grounds for Dr Fayemi assumption of office on October 16, 2018.

“I want to salute the courage of our people for voting massively for Dr. Fayemi. APC as a progressive and well coordinated party that was averse to impetuous policy as presently being witnessed in Ekiti would come with policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the populace”, he assured.
