osogbo—THE Osun State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has recommended  direct primary as a model to pick its governorship candidate for the September 22, 2018 election.

In a resolution at a meeting, weekend, in Osogbo, chaired by Prince Gboyega Famodun, the SWC

anchored the recommendation on the grounds that direct primary will give every member of the party the opportunity to be involved in the nomination process as against indirect primary;  signify popular participation by ensuring the largest participation of members across the state; promote democracy, reduce intimidation of delegates, bribery and other electoral malfeasance; address the fear of imposition; promote popular participation and prevent monetisation of the process.

It also noted that Osun APC has been using direct primaries for all its internal electoral activities since 2014 such as the governorship primaries of 2014 and the January 2018 local goverment election and appealed to the National Working Committee, NWC to approve direct primary for Osun State governorship primary.
