Cooperative society sacks leader over alleged misconduct

By Gabriel Enogholase

BENIN—A group, Ever Bless Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Benin City, Edo State, has removed its National Coordinator, Pastor Gideon Aigbogun, over alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office.

The group, in a letter to the Edo State Director of Cooperatives, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Cooperative and Employment, by Mrs. Grace Enya (Board Chairman), Mr. Clement Onyesom (Treasurer), and Mr. Ifeanyi Kehinde (Public Relations Officer), of the organisation, said that Aigbogun can no longer represent the organisation in any capacity having betrayed the goodwill of members of the group despite several entreaties to him.

The group named Mr. Bennet Enudi as the National Coordinator of the multipurpose cooperative society while Maureen Nwankaego, was appointed the Assistant Secretary of the body, just as they accused the former leader of being disrespectful to a duly constituted authority.

The group said: “He (Aigbogun) has been parading himself in a manner that constitutes a nuisance to the cooperative.”

Reacting to the allegations in a telephone interview, Pastor Aigbogun, said “The national body is already aware of the matter.  They are in Benin City to settle the matter.”
