Many new faces are springing up in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood and they are adding spices and attitude to the landscape in ways hardly seen before. They are chic, sophisticated, liberated and with little or no inhibitions that kept most actors of old in shackles of conservatism. One of such new faces is Adebimpe Oyebade, a new talent breaking new grounds and redefining style and concept of self love.

The actress who made a big impression in the flick ‘Dear Sister’ got many people’s hormones running wild when she posted a luscious picture to express what self confidence means to her.

“Confidence is the only key. I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself . Confidence is beautiful .You are a beautiful woman, own it,” she writes.

It is nothing new, it is a new concept being pushed by many actresses on social media. It is called ‘Self love’ and it is catching on like wildfire with all manners of sexually explicit visuals.

However, Adebimpe Oyebade is one of the few rare breeds in the Yoruba sector as she never slaved under any master in the industry to break through to the surface. 90 or more out of 100 Yoruba stars have had to go through apprenticeship under a teacher, oftentimes called master before they could find their feet on the terrain of the industry.

“I’m on my own,” she told Potpourri in a recent chat. “ I got in through auditions and sincerely I didn’t start getting jobs until my first movie ‘ Agbede Meji” by Yomi Fabiyi was released. But ever since the movie came out last year October, a lot of opportunities have been coming my way. My acting career started December 2016 while I was still serving in Benin City. I came across a broadcast message on WhatsApp regarding an online movie audition for the movie titled “Agbede Meji” which required two acting videos. (One-minute soliloquy and one-minute crying scene). I recorded my videos, sent them alongside my contact details to the email provided. I got a call a week later that I have been picked for the role of ‘Onikede’, the lead role and the rest is history,” she added.
