A suspected cult leader in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, widely known as ‘Indomie’, has been killed by the bullets he allegedly fired at a night guard.
Tension pervaded Sakamo community yesterday where the incident happened.
‘Indomie’, who allegedly died instantly from his bullets which allegedly returned to him in the chest, was said to be a leader of the Eiye Confraternity.
Sunday Vanguard gathered that ‘Indomie’ was sighted on Friday night in Sakamo and accosted by some guards, who suspected he was on a criminal mission because of the odd hour.
An altercation reportedly ensued between the suspected cult leader and the three night guards, prompting him to angrily draw his gun and fired at the leader of the guards.
The guards, who were said to have been unperturbed by the action of Indomie, it was gathered, had warned him against firing the gun shots,in his own interest and wanted to arrest him,but he dared them and fired the bullets.
The bullets were reported to have mysteriously returned to Indomie in the chest and killed him instantly.
A resident, who craved anonymity, told Sunday Vanguard, “We were told that he was coming from somewhere late in the night and sighted by night guards, who challenged him to know where he was coming from.
“In the process, an argument ensued and Indomie removed a gun and shot at the night guards but the bullets returned and hit him in the chest. He died instantly.”
Spokesman for Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the death of the suspected cultist, saying investigation into the incident had commenced.
