Foundation offers medical screening for Ogun communities

SEVERAL residents of communities in Abeokuta area of Ogun State once again benefited from activities of the Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation, DOAMF, as they carried out free medical screening exercises recently.

The exercises which focus on screening and treatment for High Blood Pressure, malaria, diabetes, Body Mass Index screening, vitamin deficiencies treatment, breast examination and de-worming, was well attended by both young and old.

Speaking during the enlightenment session, Programme Officer (Health), Mrs. Amala Ohaji said  the programme aimed at creating awareness on the benefits of proper hygiene and the need for beneficiaries to know their medical numbers.

“We also organised the exercise in view of achieving Goal 3 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs initiated to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being for all ages. Healthy living shifts the focus from cure to prevention through sensitisation on the importance of good hygiene and routine medical checkup.

“Patients drawn from the Alamala and neighbouring communities such as Ijaiye, Rounder and Shoyoye were attended to. They received free preventive and curative drugs. The outreach was sponsored by JB Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Medvacc Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Nalis Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Pathcare Nigeria (member of SYNLAB) and other well-meaning individuals.

The Foundation has so far touched lives of over 75,000 individuals since inception in 2007 through health and educational programmes.
