WARRI—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Ambassador Gabriel Oyibode, has declared his intention to contest the Delta North senatorial district election in 2019.
Oyibode, who contested the governorship poll on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015, said he was in the APC to contribute to the party and the state.
He said his desire to contest the Delta North senatorial election next year was driven by the passion to give the district and the state adequate representation in the National Assembly.
Oyibode, who led his supporters to pay a courtesy visit to a leader of the party in the state, Chief Hyacinth Enuba, promised to give quality representation if elected.
He said: “My victory is our collective victory. One of the things I will ensure if given the opportunity to represent Delta North is the issue of power supply since I am part of the industry and I know how to go about it to fix it. When we have good power supply, it will attract development to our zone. I will also give the youths special attention.
“I discovered that there is vacuum because we don’t have effective representation in the National Assembly. It was my people that asked me to contest because I will be of immense benefit to them and the state.”
