Super Eagles’ midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo  said it was important that the national team, takes it pre-World Cup friendlies seriously so as to put the team in a competitive mood at the FIFA World Cup tournament starting next month in Russia.

The Eagles have a series of friendly lined after the games against Argentina, Poland and Serbia. Later this month the team will face Congo DR in Port Harcourt before playing England  June 2 in Wembley Stadium London, also they will face Czech Republic on June 6 in Austria before jetting to Russia to play their first game against Croatia on June 16.

“The match against DR Congo will be a very tough one but it’s also very important we win to boost our morale. We need to take all games and training sessions seriously from now on.

“All the players know how important it is for us to succeed at the World Cup and I am 100% sure we won’t disappoint our fans,” Etebo said.

He added that the players are mindful of staying fit for World Cup tournament.

“Injury is one thing you cannot take away from the game but I am doing everything to stay injury-free and every other player is doing same. Apart from the World Cup, it’s important one stays out of injury,” Etebo concluded.
