New Anambra monarch urges unity in Ojoto

By Nwabueze Okonkwo

ONITSHA—NEWLY enthroned traditional ruler of Ojoto community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu has pledged to take up the task of unifying the entire town and harnessing the talents that abound in the community.

Igwe Mbamalu who spoke on Sunday shortly after he was installed as Igwe Oranyelu III of the community, noted that the fact that the community reposed such a confidence on him by electing and crowning him as their traditional ruler, was enough to tell him that they are looking up to him to settle the numerous challenges plaguing the area.

According to the monarch, “I was selected as Igwe because there were lots of challenges and my subjects are looking up to me to settle those challenges. What happened at the field today during my coronation and when people were paying me homages showed that my people were happy for my coming on board and that they have high expectations from me”.

On his advice to his opponents, he declared: “I don’t have any opponent. What I had was somebody who was interested in the throne. You know that everybody wants to be king but everybody cannot be king at the same time. So, you can see that it was a matter of interest and not opponent or opposition.

“My task is so enormous that it involves unification of the community, harnessing of the talents and above all, moving the community forward to eldorado.”
