N-Delta Ministry partners ITF, BoI, others to empower women, youths

Appoint substantive Amnesty Coordinator, Niger Delta stakeholders urge Buhari

ABUJA—Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has said it is collaborating with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; Bank of Industry, BoI; Industrial Training Funda, ITF; Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, SMSE, and other agencies with a view to seeing how best to empower women and youths who are trained in various fields of endeavour in the region.

The Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Professor Claudius Daramola, made the remarks at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, during the graduation ceremony of 50 Niger Delta women trained in confectioneries and household products technology for one month at the institution.

Plans database

Professor Daramola also disclosed that the ministry had concluded plans to build a database of youths and women trainees for the purposes of tracking them for future intervention programmes, funding and empowerment.

The minister added that such collaboration will help reduce duplication of efforts and make various training investments yield results of engineering the Niger Delta region’s socio-economic growth and development.

Daramola reiterated Federal Government’s determination to empower Niger Delta women through vocational training and empowerment programmes.
