ASABA—DELTA State Housing and Real Estate bill has passed second reading on the floor of the State House of Assembly.

The second reading followed a motion to that effect by the member representing Isoko South Constituency 1 and lead sponsor of the bill, Mrs Orezi Esievo, at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Opening debate on the bill, Esievo, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Affairs, said the proposed law would help in regulating the housing sector in the state, adding that housing was key to human existence.
She said: “This bill when passed will encourage the development of viable urban and rural communities by providing decent and affordable housing.”
The lawmaker noted that the proposed law would also promote housing estates, eliminate slums, blight and carry out institutional reforms in the housing sector.
