Delta State Government has been called upon to put a ban on plastic production in the state as plastics are environmentally harmful to human health even if recycled.

This was disclosed during a seminar organi-sed by the Nigerian Environmental Society, NES, Delta State chapter, to mark the World Earth Day 2018 with theme End Plastic Pollution, at Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

The immediate past chairman of NES, Delta State chapter, Mrs. Tudararo Aherobo, in her speech, lamented the poor response of government to issues of the environment.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the event, Mr. Solomon Awani, said: “The best solution is simply to use much less plastic, especially in throwaway items and to pressurize elected officials to ban the use of plastic products for which other less harmful alternatives are available.”
