OWERRI—The Principal of Federal Government College, Okigwe, Mrs. A. C. Opara, says she is worried by “the status of college perimeter fence”, in view of the security situation in the country.
Mrs. Opara raised the alarm in her maiden address to the school’s Parents/Teachers Association, PTA, meeting held weekend, at the College Pavilion.
“One of my observations within my first week of resumption that got me worried, is the status of the college perimeter fence. With the current security situation in the country, it is risky for a college like ours, close to a major express road, to be left the way it is”, Mrs. Opara said.
The principal passionately appealed to the PTA to “look into this area of need, even if the project is approached in stages, with consideration to available funds, it will go a long way to secure the school and it will be highly appreciated.”
She identified 100 per cent performance in external examinations, improvement in the living conditions of students, reduction in cases of indiscipline in the college and improving on the already set standards in sports, as some of the target areas of focus of her administration.
