By Festus Ahon, ASABA

THE Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State, HRM, Air Vice Marshal Lucky Ochuko Ararile(rtd), Avwaeke I, has said that right for every citizen to bear arms will halt the menace of ravaging herdsmen in the country.

He said: “If those carrying arms illegally could not be disarmed, then everybody should be given the right to bear arm as government appears to have failed”.

Interacting with newsmen in his palace, the monarch, said he would rather support the call to disarm the herdsmen and take them  to ranches or that every citizen is given the right for self-defense.

Saying the issue of cattle colony had been overtaken by event, he reiterated that ranching is widely accepted.

He however, said there was no better part of Nigeria to creat ranches than the North, adding: “They have the land and the money. But ranching or not, cattle breeding is a private business like any other business whereby the individual produces for profit.
