The Now Collectives: Platform for voiceless photographers

By Chris Onuoha

Following a successful and impressive photo summit held last year June by The Now Collectives (TNC), a photography outfit under the umbrella of World Fearless Photographers, their second edition coming up in the month of May, 2018  is poised to attract more members. The conference is a foray into evolving trend in still-life, documentary and motion picture business.

The Now Collectives International conference TNC ’18, with the theme, “Let’s Connect”is a platform for emerging photographers to interact, share ideas and gain more knowledge from the international photographers with speakers taking the participants on courses about the photography business. The major focus will hinge on moving away from the conventional practice to a wholesome emerging global trend.

Consistently, the group through its programmes has created awareness and reiterates need for photographers to carve a niche at doing things differently in an over saturated industry. With a divergent approach towards professionalism and getting it right, The Now Collectives deems it necessary to reinforce the creative photo community that not only adds value to service providing but also stamps a legacy of image branding.

Segun Olotu, founder, The Now Collectives Conference TNC, in a pre-conference meet said he set out to make a difference in the industry because he discovered that many photographers practicing locally in the country do not have a voice. He is a Fearless Photographer who specialises in a documentary style of photography that captures life’s important moments.

“When I set out to create this platform, little did I know the overwhelming impact it will make in the life of the youths.  The photography industry is huge and boasts of youthful community, vibrant and innovative people that do the job with unequalled enthusiasm. Beyond that, professionalism should be applied. It is saddening to know that majority of these practitioners do not have a community platform that represents their interest in a positive and encouraging manner. The Now collectives Conference TNC ’18 with the theme: “Let’s connect” is here to break the jinx of obscurity, to give them voice and exposure to global best practice. Our Speakers are internationally acclaimed photographers coming from the United State of America, Canada, South Africa, Europe and Nigeria. It is a time to share, learn, equip, enlighten and broaden our skills and horizon.  Corporate Organisations like Cannon among others are supporting the initiative.
