The rustic village of Ugbene Ajima, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu state, was thrown into disarray during the week as a lady identified as Susana Enejere was reportedly hacked to death on her farm by one Tochukwu Idu Chianugo, who allegedly removed her head and breast.
It was gathered that Susana’s assailant allegedly laid ambush at the farmland waiting for any unlucky victim before the deceased fell into his trap.
A reliable community source, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the assailant did not know a man was on a palm tree watching as he was hacking the lady.
“The palm wine tapper could not shout for fear of being hacked to death by the blood thirsty assailant, but he quitely came down unnoticed before running to the village where he raised alarm of the killing.
Confirming the incident the police spokesman in Enugu state command, Ebere Amaraizu, said the police have commenced investigation into the alleged beheading of the lady, Susana Enejere.
SP Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed this in a statement in Enugu, yesterday, said the killing took place on Monday.
“It was gathered that the lady identified as one Susana Enejere of Ugbene Ajima in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area had gone to farm on that fateful day and never came back,” he said.
The PPRO said that the law enforcement agents got the information and intensified a search in the early hours of the following day.
He said that based on intelligence information, a man from Ugwuoda village in the nearby Nimbo community was promptly nabbed in connection with the incident.
According to Amaraizu, following his arrest, the suspect took police operatives to the place where he beheaded the victim.
He added: “The headless body together with the severed head have been recovered and deposited in a nearby mortuary. The suspect is helping police operatives in investigations.”
