WARRI—FORMER Delta Steel Company, Ovwian- Aladja, has come alive, 20 years after it collapsed with the commissioning of the Rolling Mill section.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who performed the commissioning ceremony of one of Africa’s largest steel companies now called Premium Steel and Mines Limited weekend, urged the management of the firm to ensure it complies with the local content policy of the Federal Government, stressing that host communities should be productively engaged.
The governor said he was elated by the reopening of the steel company, lauding the courage of Premium Steel and Mines Limited for its investment in the place.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Steel and Mines Limited, Mr Prasanta Mishra said other sections of the steel company would soon take off, emphasising that the firm would grow into one of the biggest steel plants in Africa.
