ILORIN—One person was reportedly killed and about 21 others, including two Mobile Policemen, injured in a communal clash between the people of Offa in Offa Local Government, and the people of Ijagbo in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, yesterday.

During the clash that lasted several hours, exchange of gunfire between local hunters from both communities made people scamper for safety as most of the villagers deserted their homes.

At the end of the clash, Offa Central Hotel was destroyed, while some properties were burnt.

It was gathered that the crisis was as a result of claims to Oyun Baptist High School in Ijagbo by the Offa people, while a source attributed it to a land bordering the two communities.

Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said he was awaiting details from officers of the command drafted to the scene.

He, however, said that normalcy had returned to the scene with the deployment of policemen, Navy and Army officials.
