NSE consolidate losing streak as Eterna, Equity Assurance lead losers

The downtrend in the stock market, which started in the equities last week, continued today as a total of 36 companies recorded price losses.

Eterna Plc which has been enjoying investors’ patronage, went down by 9.67 percent at the end of the day’s trading to close at N5.42 from N6.00 per share, followed by equity Assurance, which depreciated by 8.33 percent to close at N0.44 from N0.48.

Aiico Insurance Plc ranked third, declining by 8.22 percent to close at N0.67 from N0.73 per share.

Hallmark Insurance placed fourth with 5.71 percent decrease to close at N0.33 from N0.35 per share, while FBN Holdings Plc closed as the last on the top five losers charts, declining by five percent to close at N11.40 from N12.00 per share.

On the other hand, 13 companies emerged gainers during the day’s trading led by PZ Cusson Plc with 5.83 percent increase to close at N25.40 from N24.00 per share.

Beta Glass Plc placed second, appreciating by 4.97 percent to close at N68.70 from N65.45. GlaxoSmithKline went up by 4.95 percent to close at N21.20 from N20.20 per share. Unity bank Plc ranked fourth on top gainers chart, rising by 4.92 percent to close at N1.92 from N1.83 per share, while UACN’s shares rose by 4.18 percent to close at N17.45 from N16.75 per share.
