Gunmen abduct NDDC contractors in Bayelsa

YENAGOA—GUNMEN, yesterday, abducted two contractors working on one of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC’s projects in Otuogiri community, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the gunmen, who stormed the community in the early hours of yesterday, exchanged gunfire with soldiers before whisking their targets away.


However, one of the victims was released, while the other was taken into a waiting speed boat to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, a member of the Community Development Committee, CDC, Mr. Lucky Moses, said the community has arrested an accomplice, who confessed to giving information to the abductors, adding that he will be handed over to security operatives.

Spokesman of Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, who also confirmed the incident, said the accomplice has been arrested and is undergoing interrogation.
