Group donates food, gift items to motherless home

As part of its philanthropic gestures to the less privileged in the society, a group under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Association, NDYA, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has presented food items and gifts to Idung Iyang Motherless Home in Eket Local Government Area of the state.

Making the presentation to the motherless babies home at Idung Iyang on behalf of the group, the Chairman of NDYA chapter in the state, Comrade Udukime Ime, said the move was part of its social responsibility drive towards the society.

He said, inter-alia : ” We are here to celebrate with these children because they have nobody to care for them. They are humans like us who lack love from others and that is why we are here to celebrate with them so as to give them a sense of belonging.

” The worst thing that can happen to anybody is to live in isolation. Living a life with no one to care for you is not easy. My team and I are extremely happy today to put smiles on the faces of these children. With these, we feel a sense of fulfillment.”

He thanked God for giving the group the opportunity to extend a hand of fellowship to the motherless babies home, praying that God would continue to provide for them so to do more for the motherless home.

Udukime promised to always visit the motherless home from time-to-time, even as he called on well-meaning indigenes of the state, cooperate organizations and other stakeholders to always extend to the poor through cash or material donations in order to give the children a sense of belonging.

Responding on behalf of the children, Master Bocco Francis, who was visiblly elated by the goodwill of the group, thanked them for remembering them, praying that God would replenish their pockets a 100 fold.

He appealed to the group not to abandon them but reach out to them whenever the need arose, noting that ” This act of kindness you have shown us today is greatly appreciated by us, and we will never forget this day.”
