UGHELLI—Delta State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has dissolved all pressure groups within the party in a move to stem the tide of acrimony among members in a renewed peace drive.
The move by the party is coming less than four days after one of the pressure groups, Mainstream Delta APC, MDA, constituted a 22-man committee to search for a governorship aspirant whom it promised to support ahead of the 2019 general election.
The decision to dissolve the pressure groups was made during a state caucus meeting attended by former Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State, the state party chairman, Jones Erue, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and Chief Great Ogboru.
The party, in a statement by Erue, noted that all Whatsapp chat platforms associated with such pressure groups will be shut down, except “the official party organs and local government area platforms that were hitherto approved.”
Giving details of resolutions reached at the meeting, Erue said: “At the meeting of the state caucus of our party held on February 13, 2018, a resolution was reached that all internal groups be dissolved in order to foster a more cohesive family and to ensure unity of purpose for the future political tasks ahead.”
