In a bid to enhance effective representation and stop persistent nagging in some quarters in Anambra east local government, political stakeholders on Saturday adopted sharing formula for elective political offices in the local government.
In a meeting held at the palace of HRH Igwe Kelly N. Nkeli (Okalakwu), the traditional ruler of Igbariam, Anambra east political leaders agreed on the sharing formula as a panacea for unequal representation in the zone.
According to HRH Igwe Kelly N.Nkeli, the meeting was for the sole aim of entrenching political understanding in Anambra east.
His words, “They adopted sharing formula for elective political offices in order to have a sense of belonging to all the affected communities within the local government.”
He stated that the sharing formula adopted by the political leaders was accepted by stakeholders of various communities within the local government that attended the meeting.
Igwe Kelly reeled out the agreed sharing formula for elective political offices which are:
(1) House of Assembly, Igbariam community (2) Local government Chairman, Nando community (3) Deputy Local government Chairman, Nsugbe community (4) Local government Secretary, Umueri community (5)Leader of the local government legislative council , Umuoba Anam (6) Deputy leader of the local government legislative council, supervisory councillors for Works, health , Agriculture , ETC, was zoned to the 5 communities in Aguleri.
“The political leaders will do everything humanly possible to ensure immediate implementation of the agreed sharing formula for elective political offices in the local government”, Igwe Kelly Nkeli finally said.
