ENUGU—OFFICIALS of the Department for Petroleum Resources, DPR, Enugu Zone, Tuesday visited 14 filling stations and forced them to comply with the official pump price of N145 per litre.

A retail outlet and marketing unit, DPR field officer, Enugu, Mr. Callistus Obodoechi who disclosed this to newsmen, said that out of the 14 filling stations visited, five stations were under lock and key, whereas others sold the product  between N190  and N180 except the Total Filling Station at Coal Camp and Oando at Agbani Road that sold at N145.

Obodoechi also disclosed that this month of January, 2018, the DPR has sealed 15 filling stations in Enugu for selling above the stipulated pump price.

He said that they were asked to revert to the official pump price of N145 or risk being sealed which they complied.

“We asked them to revert to the official pump price and they complied and we monitored them for 30 minutes before we left to ensure compliance,” he said.

Meanwhile, in spite of DPR efforts to ensure that petrol is sold at the official pump price, transport fare has continued to rise nothwithstanding that the price is coming down from between N250 and N200 it sold in December prior to Yuletide and the New Year festivities.
