DPP faults neutrality claim by DSIEC chairman

….Says it’s an extension of Government House

By Perez Brisibe

DEMOCRATIC People’s Party, DPP, has faulted claim by the chairman, Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DESIEC, Chief Mike Ogbodu that  all the 16 political parties participating in the election are satisfied with the conduct of the electoral umpire as a “blatant lie.”

The party’s national treasurer, Julius O. Bobi in a statement yesterday, while expressing fears of his party on the neutrality of DESIEC ahead of the  January 6council elections, said, “nothing free and fair will come his (Ogbodu) commission.”

Ogbodu while speaking to Vanguard had said: “So far. I have not heard any criticism from any of the political parties about our conduct…nobody has taken us to court.”

Describing the comment as “blatant lie,” Bobi who is a former member representing Ughelli constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly said: “He said no pending litigation whereas there is a substituting Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/1118/2017 of 14/11/17 at the Federal High Court, Abuja by the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) against DESIEC and 8 others. Whereof, DESIEC was duly served on the 24/11/17.

“Again, we make bold to state that DESIEC is an extension of the Government House of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and they are out to embarrass Deltans.”
